ABOUT ME

Being a qualified Nail Technician and currently working in a Beauty Salon, I decided to start a blog. The aim of my blog is to review products that I either use or experiment with, talk about current trends within the industry and be inspired by or inspire other nail technicians, as well as clients.

I have been performing manicures and pedicures now for just over three years, however I have only been qualified with CND Shellac and NSI Acrylic for two. My interest in nails stemmed from having my own nails done regularly. For Christmas in 2016, my Mum gave me a gel polish starter kit which included a lamp, a few colours and the basic preparation products. My kit grew rather quickly with new colours and glitters and all things nails! Of course from then onwards, my family relied on me to do their nails and it turned out that I wasn't too shabby (even if I do say so myself)! Being at University at the time, I found fellow students who lived in the halls were asking me to do their nails too. I really enjoyed the social side of performing manicures but also having a good chat with the client. It always played on my mind however that I wasn't actually qualified to be doing these nails.

During my third year at University I obviously thought what else can I throw into the mix along side my dissertation and third year studies?! So I decided

to join a course in order to become qualified with CND Shellac. The idea of doing this was so that I could offer mobile treatments to earn some extra money alongside my studies. A friend of mine worked in a local Salon who had been looking for a nail technician for some time, Ellie being Ellie hadn't actually thought of the fact that her best friend who did her nails might be a good fit for the salon. It was only when the hairdresser pointed out to Ellie "doesn't your friend do nails?" that Ellie thought, "oh yeah, Chloe does nails!". Tracey, the salon manager then invited me to come in for a chat and since April 2018, I have worked at ONYX Beauty Salon. I completed my NSI Acrylic Training not long after.

Although I work within the Beauty Industry, I am not a stereotypical girly girl. Most of the time around work, I am either mucking out horses, riding them, walking my dogs or doing jobs on the yard. I have three horses and three dogs so as you can probably imagine, I am always rather busy! I enjoy competing the horses in my free time. I mainly compete in Working Hunter and this year I stepped it up a notch and qualified for the Royal International Horse Show (RI) down in Hickstead. Working within this industry makes it difficult to attend a lot of the qualifiers as they annoyingly fall on Saturdays, however next year I hope to qualify for the RI again as well as the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS). Luckily, horses and dogs (kind of) fall hand in hand, allowing me to be able to exercise the two at the same time. Even though it sounds like I never have a second to myself, I do (some how) find time to include other things, like going shopping, spending time with friends and time to chill! I enjoy being able to juggle my time to fit everything in.

Now that's enough about me, I hope you enjoy my blog!
